1950’s Surf Shack

March 16, 2021

You read that right.

It’s legitimately a 1950’s surf shack. And it’s as great as you suspect.

Owned by a longstanding, multi-generational Lennox Heads family, the shack is thought to be one of the first houses of the region.

As we said, it is as great as you suspect.

The project came to the Elite Choice team as a referral after another job on the same street. It covered a full colour-matched exterior repaint and restoration, focused on bringing out the shack’s original charm after 70 years of sun, sea salt and Lennox winds.

As you might suspect, the surface preparation was a mission – as in Tom-Cruise-mission. The weatherboards facing the sea required a special level of attention. Thankfully, with patience and the help of precision gear, everything turned out a treat.

Our Graco paint sprayer would have been perfect for the larger surface area, but most of the job was actually looked after with the classic brush. Labour intensive and precise, it is what the project demanded and we have no regrets.

The owners were interstate at the time, so we did our best to keep them updated on progress with a combination of photos and Zoom calls. They were taken aback by the results. Another happy client is always a win.
